Recipe | Savoury Waffles with Yogurt
Check out our delicious and simple recipe of savory waffles. They are a total treat for breakfast or brunch !
Servings: 5 big waffles
Ingredients :
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 35g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 400ml whole milk
- 80g unsweetened yogurt Yoplait
- 50g unsalted butter
- 2 tsp vinegar
- A handful of finely chopped fresh scallions and/or parsley
- 75g shredded cheddar
Instructions :
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, bicarbonate of soda, 2 pinches of salt, pepper and the sugar, then make a well in the center.
- Mix the 2 eggs with the milk and yogurt in a separate bowl until smooth. Pour into bowl with dry ingredients and mix gently but thoroughly to form a batter.
- Then stir in the cheddar and herbs.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F with a rack in the center.
- Preheat the waffle iron. Once hot, paint it with oil, making sure to go into the crevices.
- Place about ¼ cup of dough onto the waffle iron and close it up. The exact amount will depend on the size of your iron.
- It will take 4-5 minutes to be ready. Don't open it up before this time or it will open in half. If it does open in half it means it needs more time.
- When the waffle has finished cooking, place directly on the wire rack in the oven to keep warm. Finish cooking the remaining waffles.
For serving :
Savory Waffles can be used in so many ways. You can accompany them with a variety of toppings such as hummus, plain yoghurt, guacamole, eggs, smoked salmon, sautéed veggies, cream cheese etc.
They can also be used as the “bread” for sandwiches. The possibilities are endless. Bon appétit.
